As a service to the genomics community, DNASTAR provides distribution of the Mauve multiple genome alignment software application. Mauve is a system for efficiently constructing multiple genome alignments in the presence of large-scale evolutionary events such as rearrangement and inversion. Multiple genome alignment provides a basis for research into comparative genomics and the study of evolutionary dynamics.
"Progressive Mauve is an excellent choice for whole genome alignments, either pairwise or with multiple sequences. The new tools for contig ordering as well as for SNP and ortholog detection add important functionality for genome finishing and analysis."
