Please see the sections below for details about virtual desktop specifications and recommended workflows.

Small Virtual Desktop

Recommended Project Types:

  • 15 GB RAM
  • 30 GB Storage (30 GB data/results drive)
  • Cloning and primer design
  • Sanger sequence assembly
  • Multiple sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis

Medium Virtual Desktop

Recommended Project Types:

  • 2.5 GHz Intel Xeon E5-2670 v2 (Ivy Bridge) processor, 4 core CPU
  • 30.5 GB RAM
  • 900 GB Storage (50 GB data drive, 50 GB results drive, 800 GB temporary storage)
  • Reference-guided alignment of exomes and transcriptomes/RNA-Seq
  • Reference-guided and de novo assembly of genomes less than 1 Gbp in length (for example, Escherichia coli)
  • ChIP-Seq and miRNA alignment and analysis
  • Visualization and analysis of genome assemblies
