DNASTAR is a leading developer of software for molecular biologists. Established in 1984, our products are used by pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic researchers in more than 65 countries.
We are expanding our staff with the creation of several new positions, as listed below.
Technical Sales Scientists are responsible for selling and supporting our software products in an assigned territory, promote and generate sales by contacting customers via phone or email. You will also assist customers by answering technical questions pertaining to the installation and application of our software. Ideal candidate has a degree in Molecular Biology or similar field, minimum 3 years relevant laboratory experience, proven ability to learn large amounts of technical information quickly, and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing to customers and colleagues. Travel up to 25% is required.
Product Managers are responsible for successfully commercializing DNASTAR software products. The position requires demonstrated expertise in genomics or proteomics research with suitable experience as an Application Scientist or Product Manager to support the scientific marketing of DNASTAR software products. The Product Manager will bring ingenuity to DNASTAR’s marketing function and identify successful ways in which the company can quickly enter new market segments (structural biology and clinical research) through appropriate market research, contacts and other innovative approaches, fully leveraging today’s tools and technologies. Travel up to 25% is required.
Senior Scientists are responsible for staying abreast of current scientific trends and helping DNASTAR design and develop products that are responsive to those trends. You will be expected to take a lead role in new product design and grant writing and provide outstanding product specifications in a variety of formats. You will also be expected to periodically give scientific presentations.
Software Engineers are responsible for analyzing users' needs to design, develop, test, and maintain computer applications software or systems. They may also be project team leads, depending on experience and qualifications. We seek programmers proficient in Java and C++.
Requirements for the scientific based positions include an advanced degree in Molecular Biology or related field (Ph. D. preferred), 5 years of applicable industry experience, strong communication skills and solid computer capabilities.

Internships are often available in the areas of Quality Assurance software testing and software development (full-time in the summer or year-round part-time or full-time) and in our marketing department. For our QA and marketing internships, we seek individuals with life science backgrounds who have an interest in software testing or marketing. For software development interns, we seek computer science students who have an interest in molecular biology.
