Manipulating the QMOL Clipping Plane

(1) Load a molecule into Qmol.

(2) Display the clipping plane by selecting "Render | Clipping | Display Clip Plane" from the menu bar. This step is not required but it will help when adjusting the clipping plane.

(3) Turn on clipping by selecting "Render | Clipping | Clip View".

(4) To rotate the clipping plane, hold down the Control Key and the Left Mouse button -- the clipping plane can now be rotated as if it were a molecule. To move the plane along its normal vector, used the Control Key and the Right Mouse Button. Since the translucent clipping plane display will obscure the molecule, turning off the clip plane display will allow unobstructed visualization (the clipping plane color and translucency can also be adjusted via the "Color | Clip Plane ..." menu item).
