Technical Requirements for Windows
  • Windows XP, Vista , or Windows 7
  • Intel compatible Pentium class processor
  • 128 MB RAM*
  • 90 MB of available hard-disk space
  • CD-ROM drive (unless downloaded)
  • Internet access (required to authorize)

  • Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5, or 10.6
  • Intel or Power PC based Macintosh computers

  • 120 MB of available hard-disk space
  • CD-ROM drive (unless downloaded)
  • Internet access (required to authorize)

    • * RAM requirements vary depending on size of data being analyzed. At least 512MB RAM for SeqMan Pro Assembler.

    Technical Requirements for Windows

    SeqMan NGen on Windows requires a minimum:

  • Windows XP x64, Vista x64, or Windows 7 x64
  • 4 GB RAM*
  • 3 GB of available hard-disk space
  • 1.6 GHz processor speed
  • Internet access (required to authorize)

    • RAM requirements vary depending on the volume of data being analyzed. In order to optimize performance for large assemblies, especially data sets generated using Illumina, ABI SOLiD and Roche 454 Life Sciences technologies, we recommend:

  • 16 GB RAM (Additional RAM may be useful to speed up large assemblies where much data divergence is expected.)
  • 10 GB of available hard disk space
  • 2.19 GHz processor speed

  • Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6
  • Intel 64 bit processor
  • 4 GB RAM*
  • 3 GB of available hard-disk space
  • 1.6 GHz processor speed
  • Internet access (required to authorize)

    • RAM requirements vary depending on the volume of data being analyzed. In order to optimize performance for large assemblies, especially data sets generated using Illumina, ABI SOLiD and Roche 454 Life Sciences, we recommend:

  • 16 GB RAM (Additional RAM may be useful to speed up large assemblies where much data divergence is expected.)
  • 10 GB of available hard-disk space
  • 2.66 GHz processor speed

    • * RAM requirements vary depending on the volume of data being analyzed. Running large assemblies and opening the resulting project file uses both your computer's RAM and its hard disk space.

  • 8 GB of RAM
  • 100 GB available hard-disk space**

  • 4 GB of RAM, with 2 GB RAM allocated for Parallels

  • Internet access (required for installation and recommended for genome and annotation downloads)

    QSeq projects and other projects containing large data sets may require additional computing capacity:

  • 1.6 GHz or faster x86 CPU
  • 16GB of RAM, with 8 GB RAM allocated for Parallels
  • 200 GB of available hard-disk space, with 100 GB allocated to Parallels

    • * Note that ArrayStar and QSeq were designed to run on Windows operating systems only. However, you can run ArrayStar and QSeq on a Macintosh with an Intel processor by using Parallels Desktop.

    ** An additional 280 MB is required on Windows XP if .NET 2.0 is not previously installed.

    • *RAM requirements vary depending on the project size. At least 1 GB is recommended when working with very large projects.
    **Please refer to Adobe's website for Adobe Illustrator technical requirements.


    Network License Requirements


    DNASTAR Network License Server (network version for Lasergene, ArrayStar, and SeqMan NGen)

    The DNASTAR Network License Server requires either a Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, 2003 Server or 2008 Server computer or a Macintosh OS 10.4 or 10.5 (Intel or Power PC), or 10.6 computer. An internet connection must be available to authorize the software. The server computer must have a static IP address which is manually configured in the TCP/IP setting for the network connection in use. Setting the DHCP to automatically renew the same IP address will not allow the server to run properly. The server process, called lservnt (Windows) or lserv (Macintosh) uses approximately 5 MB of available RAM and 10 MB of hard disk space.
