Heat Map Style Settings

Preferences for the Heat Map view can be defined in the Set Styles window. This window can be accessed by selecting Graphs > Set Styles while the Heat Map view is active, or by clicking the Style Settings tool set styles button.

Select your preferences for the Heat Map display by checking or unchecking features from the list provided:

Display Gene Tree – Displays the Gene Tree, located on the vertical axis of the Heat Map.

Display Experiment Tree – Displays the Experiment Tree, located on the horizontal axis of the Heat Map.

Note: This option is enabled only when the cluster experiments option is selected in the Clustering Parameters dialog.

Display Gene List – Displays the gene names listed on the right side of the Heat Map.

Display Grid Lines – Displays the grid lines that separate individual genes and experiments on the Heat Map display.

Distance Based Trees – Displays both the Experiment Tree and Gene Tree as distance-based (as opposed to equidistant).

Select your preferences for limiting the span of the color scale:

All project data - The color scale will span the entire range of signal values contained within the current project.

Current heat map data points – The color scale will span only the range of signal values from the data currently displayed in the Heat Map.

Cutoff data points by percentile – Specify a percentage of data points to be used as cutoff values for the left and right ends of the color scale. The percentage of data points specified for each end will be displayed as the most highly suppressed/expressed genes.

Cutoff data points by standard deviation – Specify the number of standard deviations to be used as cutoff values for the left and right ends of the color scale. Expression values outside of the specified range will be displayed as the most highly suppressed/expressed genes.

Select your Heat Map printing preferences:

Check the Fit to one page checkbox to resize your Heat Map to fit on one page when printing.

Click the Font button to specify font settings to be used when printing your Heat Map.

After making changes, click Apply to apply the changes to the current view.

Or click Save as Default to save these changes as your new default settings.

Clicking Use DNASTAR Styles changes all values in the Set Styles window back to their original default settings.
