The following editing commands can be used in multiple views, panels and dialogs.

Task How to…
Remove the current selection from the project and place it on the clipboard Choose Edit > Cut or use keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd+X. Among other things, you can cut range and text selections, comments in the Comment view, features in the Features view and translation rulers.

You can also use Edit > Select All within the Sequence, Circular, Linear, or Minimap and then use Edit > Cut to remove the contents.

Note: Cut data does not remain strand-specific. If you copy data from a forward strand, you may copy it to the reverse strand and vice versa.
Paste the contents of the clipboard into an insertion point Choose Edit > Paste or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd+V.
Delete the selection from the project without placing the contents in the clipboard Choose Edit > Delete or press the Delete key
Select the entire contents of the active window Choose Edit > Select All or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd+A. Neither option is available within the Features view.
Reverse the effect of the previous operation(s) Choose Edit > Undo or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd+Z. You may use these options multiple times to undo multiple actions.
Reverse the effect of the last Edit > Undo command Choose Edit > Redo or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z You may use these options multiple times to redo multiple actions.
