Using the Manage Columns Dialog

By default, each of the six ArrayStar tables begins with only a small subset of annotation or expression-related columns. The Manage Columns dialog lets you add additional columns to facilitate sorting/filtering the data and locating items of most interest to you. You can also rearrange, rename or delete columns from within this dialog.

The dialog can be accessed from within any ArrayStar table by clicking the Add/Manage Columns tool (). Options available for each table vary depending on the table, the workflow.

1)  Select the Categories button containing the column type of interest. This causes the column types for that category to appear in the Available Values box. (For a description of all column types, see Table Column Descriptions.)

2)  Select the desired column type from the Available Values box. The name and a description of the selected column type appear to the right.

3)  If the Add for these experiments box is present, experiments will be grouped according to replicate set (if any). Expand the tree, as needed, and select one or more experiments.

4)  If Scale (primary values) is present, select the desired scale for data that will appear in the column: Linear or Log2.

5)  When you have made the selections above, click the Add Column button to move the columns to the Current Columns box. Columns are initially listed in the order in which they are added. The order of columns in the list is also the order in which the columns will appear in the table.

Once items are present in the Current Columns box, you may:

Remove one or more selected column(s) from the list using Remove ‘n’ Columns.

Reorder one or more selected columns using the Move Up/Move Down buttons ().

Change the width (in pixels) of one or more selected columns using the Set ‘n’ Columns’ Widths button.

Rename a single selected column using Rename Column.

After making the desired changes, click OK to save your changes or Cancel to exit without saving changes.
