Saving Coverage and Layout Features

In addition to the features you create, SeqMan Pro also creates features on your consensus sequences to annotate the layout of constituent sequences, and areas relating to coverage thresholds. These features cannot be viewed within SeqMan Pro but can be included when you export your consensus sequence for viewing in another program.

Coverage features are created to annotate areas related to the coverage thresholds set for your project. The following coverage features may be created:

Feature Type

Description

coverage_one

Describes an area of the consensus where coverage exists in only one direction.

coverage_above

Describes an area of the consensus where the coverage exceeds the minimum threshold value without exceeding the maximum expected coverage.

coverage_below

Describes an area of the consensus where the coverage is less than minimum expected coverage value set for your project.

coverage_once

Describes an area of the consensus where coverage is only 1 sequence in depth.

coverage_exceed

Describes an area of the consensus where coverage exceeds the maximum expected coverage value set for your project.

Coverage features are always included with your consensus sequence when you select Contig > Save Consensus > [any option] to export the sequence, or when you send the consensus sequence to another Lasergene application using File > Send Consensus To.

One layout feature is created on the consensus for each constituent sequence within a contig. These features are titled layout and are included when you export your consensus by selecting Contig > Save Consensus > [any option] and checking the box next to “Layout Features.” Note that layout features are not included when sending the consensus sequence to another Lasergene application by using File > Send Consensus To.
