Activating the Calculate Button

The Calculate button in the Statistics Parameters dialog is only active when the selection of experiments is valid for the chosen statistical test. Some tests require a specific workflow and a minimum selected number of experiments, replicate categories, and/or replicate sets.

The table below explains which combinations of workflows and selections are necessary to activate the Calculate button for each test.

Notes

Fisher’s Exact Test Signal Search

All

2 replicate categories (not replicate sets) containing ≥ 2 experiments each (see note)

If a Variants project has been filtered to include only intergenic regions, Fisher's Exact Test Signal Search will be disabled, since there are no genes in the project.

Fisher's Exact Test Signal Search is not available for projects using replicate sets (e.g., Microarray projects). It is possible to enable the test by creating a category and then moving the replicate sets to the category. At least one of the categories must contain at least two experiments or replicate sets.

Standard deviation

1 replicate set or category containing ≥ 2 experiments

Coefficient of variation

Variance

Cross-R2

Student’s t-test

2 replicate sets or categories containing ≥ 2 experiments each

Moderated t-test

F-Test (ANOVA)

≥ 3 replicate sets or categories containing ≥ 2 experiments each

Fisher’s Exact Test SNP Search

Variants only

2 replicate categories (not replicate sets) containing ≥ 2 experiments each (see note)

If a Variants project has been filtered to include only intergenic regions, Fisher's Exact Test SNP Search will be functional at the SNP level, but non-functional at the gene level.

Odds Ratio SNP Search

2 replicate categories (not replicate sets) containing ≥ 2 experiments each (see note)

Validation Control Accuracy

Variants with gene panel / validation control data only

1 standard and 1 control experiment

Note: Even if you set up replicate sets during project setup, you can still set up replicate categories from within the Experiment List view by clicking on the Regroup categories by name or attribute tool (). Check either of the “Create categories” boxes at the bottom of the dialog.
