Adding Sequences to the Project

Note: This topic is not applicable to BAM-based projects.

Sequences may be added to your project for assembly using a variety of methods:

Select Sequence > Add or Sequence > Add One.

Click the Add Sequences button from the Unassembled Sequences window.

Drag and drop files or folders of sequences from Windows Explorer or Macintosh Finder onto the Unassembled Sequences window. This is recommended for files or folders containing a large number of sequences.

Select Sequence > Add Entrez Sequence to retrieve a sequence from the Entrez database at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

Add a sequence from a BLAST search by using the Add to Project button from the search results window or using the Net Search > Add to Project menu command. (Note that BLAST searching is not available for unassembled sequences.)

Add a sequence from a text search by using the Net Search > Add to Project menu command.

If you plan to use a collection of sequences in more than one assembly, you may save time in future assemblies by creating a File of Filenames (FoF) for the collection. The FoF may be made at any stage of preassembly, including before or after trimming. FoFs may be added to projects using any of the first three methods listed above.
