Negating and Restoring Weights

Note: This topic is not applicable to BAM-based projects.

Using the Negate Weights option will cancel the internal weight of the selected portion of a sequence so that the sequence does not contribute to the consensus. This command is particularly useful if you wish to build the assembly around a backbone sequence.

To negate weights, use the following procedure:

1)  From the lower pane of the Project Summary window, double click on the name of the sequence to open it in the Alignment View. Or if you wish to negate the weight for the entire sequence, you may simply select the sequence name in the Project Summary window.

2)  Highlight the desired range of the sequence for which you wish to negate weights.

3)  Select Edit > Negate Weights.

Note: The color used to distinguish sequences in the Alignment View whose weights have been negated can be defined using the Editing & Color parameters.

Using Negate Weights does not remove the weights permanently. Weights may be restored for a selection by choosing Edit > Restore Weights. After using this command, SeqMan Pro will again use the sequence’s internal weights to determine the consensus.
