Editing Constituent Sequences

Note: This topic is not applicable to BAM-based projects.

The Alignment View allows you to edit your sequences, if needed, by addressing conflicts or gaps, trimming ends or restoring previously trimmed data, adjusting sequence alignment, as well as direct editing of sequences and the consensus.

To edit a constituent or consensus sequence, highlight the base(s) or the insertion point where you wish to edit and then type in the desired changes.

Gaps may be inserted by typing dashes (-).

Changes made to a constituent sequence only directly affect that sequence, though they may also affect the consensus, depending on the local coverage and the current consensus calling parameters.

Changes made to the consensus sequence affect the consensus and every constituent sequence in the contig.

Note: In order to make changes, make sure you have allowed editing under the Editing & Colors parameters.

Edits you make to your project are recorded in the SeqMan Pro project file, but the original sequence files remain unchanged. To preserve changes made to constituent sequence files while editing the assembly project, you may wish to export your sequences.
