Protean 3D or its Structure view are incompatible with macOS 10.15 (Catalina) and higher

October 18, 2021 Product Notifications

Date:10/18/2021

Version Affected:  Lasergene 17.3.2 and prior

Version Fixed: Lasergene 17.3.3

Issue: When using Lasergene’s Protean 3D application on macOS 10.15 (Catalina) and higher, the Structure view cannot be used. The affected macOS systems include macOS 10.15 Catalina (released Oct 2019), macOS 11 Big Sur (Nov 2020) and macOS 12 Monterey (Oct 2021).

  • In Lasergene 17.3 through 17.3.2, Protean 3D will display an error message saying that the Structure view is not supported on macOS 10.15 and higher.
  • In Lasergene 17.2 or earlier, Protean 3D will fail to open or will immediately crash.

Resolution: This issue was resolved with the release of Lasergene 17.3.3 on June 29, 2022. Lasergene users wishing to use Protean 3D software on a macOS 10.15 or higher computer should update their software to version 17.3.3 (or later). For assistance, please contact [email protected].
