LASERGENE 17.6 RELEASE NOTES

Lasergene 17.6 is now available to download.

This release includes:

  • Significant usability improvements for protein analysis in Protean 3D
  • New NovaFold AI-Multimer workflow using AlphaFold-Multimer method
  • Powerful new functionality for sequence alignments and phylogenetic analysis in MegAlign Pro
  • Updates for RNA-Seq and templated genome alignments in Lasergene Genomics
  • Bug fixes for SeqBuilder Pro and SeqMan Ultra

Updates for sequence alignments in MegAlign Pro include:

  • A new gene homology alignment algorithm enables users to identify and compare subsets of homologous genes in bacterial genomes or eukaryotic chromosomes with ease
  • RAxML-NG is now available for fast and accurate Maximum Likelihood phylogenetic inference and bootstrapping calculations
  • Gap editing allows adding, removing, and shuffling gaps in the alignment
  • Translate nucleic sequences or subsequences into a protein alignment, with a single click
  • Use a translation track to guide sequence trimming before an alignment, or for gap editing afterward

Improvements for protein analysis in Protean 3D include:

  • Updated rendering engine that allows Protean 3D to run natively on macOS and provides more photo-realistic images
  • New NovaFold AI-Multimer workflow for predicting the structure of multimeric assemblies using the AlphaFold-Multimer method
  • WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) selection in the Structure view enables precise selection directly on the structure
  • Custom label creation for atoms, residues, and other structural components
  • The ability to export 3D models for use in other applications

Updates for NGS workflows in Lasergene Genomics include:

  • Auto-generation of PCA plots and Volcano plots for differential gene expression using EdgeR or DESeq2 for RNA-Seq alignments.
  • Updated human genome template packages for whole exome/genome sequencing and variant analysis
  • Several bug fixes in SeqMan Ultra
